Hanoi (VNA) – Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception in Hanoi on Aug. 30 for Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver Portal, who is on an official visit to Vietnam for the seventh political consultation between the two foreign ministries. Foreign Affairs.

Son praised the results of the political consultation at the deputy minister level which reviewed the bilateral agenda and reached consensus on measures to strengthen the bilateral relationship.

He suggested that the two sides facilitate the exchange of high-level delegations and visits to ministries, agencies and enterprises; further strengthen bilateral trade and investment; make better use of cooperation mechanisms between the Parties, governments, departments and agencies of the two countries; as well as offering all possible support to Vietnamese companies to do business in Cuba.

Portal said Cuba wants to further deepen its special traditional relations and comprehensive partnership with Vietnam.

He thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their support for Cuba in the cause of national construction and development, most recently material and mental support following the fire at the oil storage facility in the city of Matanzas on August 5.

The two sides agreed to prepare for political and high-level exchanges during the period of 2022-2023, improve the efficiency of cooperation mechanisms to further strengthen economic, trade and investment ties, thus tightening the special political ties and comprehensive partnership between the two nations.

During his visit from August 28 to September 1, Portal is scheduled to meet with head of the Party Central Committee’s Foreign Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Construction and co-chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi. , Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group Vu Hai Ha, and pays a working visit to Ho Chi Minh City./.
